7 Days of Everything, Unlocked — Why We Built the Auto-Trial
A 7-day Family+ trial activates automatically after onboarding, with no credit card. Here's what unlocks, what changes on expiry, and why we built it.
There’s a fundamental problem with freemium finance apps. To know if an app is worth paying for, you need to see what the premium features actually do. But you can’t see the premium features without paying. So you either pay blind, or you never find out.
This is why so many finance apps have mediocre conversion rates — not because the product isn’t good enough, but because the trial path is broken.
The Standard Freemium Problem
The typical freemium finance app flow:
- You sign up and see a basic interface
- You slowly fill in data over several weeks
- You hit a limit (“You’ve used 80% of your free budget slots”)
- You’re shown a paywall with a features list
- You subscribe without having experienced the premium features
The paywall is based on fear of limits, not evidence of value.
What We Built Instead
When you complete the onboarding wizard in MyFam360, a 7-day Family+ trial activates automatically in the background. No opt-in. No credit card. No decision required.
You land on the dashboard with full Family+ access. Not a “preview” or a “teaser” — the real thing. Every AI Insight fires. Every report tab is unlocked. Every limit ceiling is raised.
The philosophy: let you experience what you’re potentially paying for before you make any financial commitment. Evaluate from experience, not from a features table on a pricing page.
What the 7 Days Unlock
Rather than listing features abstractly, here’s what actually changes:
Transactions: Free plan gives you 30 per month and 240 lifetime. During the trial, these limits don’t exist. You can log every transaction from the past several months to catch up, without rationing entries.
AI Insights: The most differentiated Family+ feature. During the trial, the AI engine analyzes your spending patterns and surfaces findings you didn’t know to look for — food delivery creeping into 15% of your monthly budget, a savings goal that’s on track vs one that isn’t, a spending pattern that changes every third month. These insights require a few weeks of data to be meaningful, which is why the trial starts on day zero of onboarding (not day 14, when you’ve already formed habits about the app).
Advanced Reports: 24 report types vs the 4 on the Free plan. Daily spending heatmap, category drift detector, savings rate gauge, subscription cost projection, time-of-day spending patterns. These reports answer questions you didn’t know you had about your own finances.
Savings Goals with multi-member contributions: If you’ve invited a partner or family member, you can both contribute to shared savings goals during the trial — and see each other’s contributions in the group goals timeline.
Settlements: 0 on Free, up to 10 during the trial. If you share expenses with anyone, the settlements tab becomes usable.
How to Track Your Trial
The dashboard shows a trial banner throughout the 7 days. The color changes as expiry approaches — a deliberate progression:

A progress bar shows the day count visually. There’s a “Subscribe Now” link that takes you to the Billing page if you’ve decided to continue.
What Changes When the Trial Ends
Nothing breaks. You don’t lose data. Your account reverts to the Free plan automatically. No charge.
What you’ll notice:
- The trial banner disappears
- The “Subscribe Now” option appears in Settings → Billing
- Premium pages (AI Insights, Advanced Reports, Challenges) become locked
On each locked page, we show a personalized lock screen — not a generic “upgrade to unlock” message, but one that tells you specifically:
“You used AI Insights 14 times during your trial. Subscribe to Family+ to continue.”
This is intentional. If you used a feature 14 times in 7 days, it’s already part of your financial workflow. The number reminds you of the value you experienced, rather than asking you to speculate about it.
One Trial, By Design
The auto-trial is one per user per plan. This is a deliberate policy, not a technical limitation.
Unlimited trials would effectively make every Free plan a permanent premium plan. That would be unfair to paying subscribers who are funding product development, server costs, and the features they’re using. We don’t think that’s honest.
If you tried the trial and want to continue, the Billing page in Settings shows monthly and yearly pricing. Yearly plans are priced at 10× the monthly rate (roughly two months free).
The One-Time Option
If you missed the auto-trial or want to try a specific plan tier, there’s also a one-time paid trial option on the Pricing page — a nominal ₹49–₹199 charge (depending on plan tier) for a fresh 7-day window. This is different from the free auto-trial and exists as a low-commitment on-ramp for users returning after a break.

Does the MyFam360 trial require a credit card?
No. The trial activates automatically when you complete the onboarding wizard — no payment information required. You explore the full Family+ feature set for 7 days, and after the trial ends, your account reverts to the Free plan automatically. If you want to continue with premium features, you subscribe from the Billing page at that point.
What does the 7-day trial unlock?
The trial gives you full Family+ access: unlimited transactions, up to 8 members per group, AI Insights (spending leak detection, budget forecasting, goal achievement predictions), Advanced Reports (24 report types including daily heatmap, category drift, savings gauge), Savings Goals, unlimited recurring entries, up to 10 settlements, up to 3 trips, and email report scheduling. Basically, everything in the product.
What happens when the trial ends?
Your account reverts to the Free plan automatically — no action needed. No charge is made. Free plan limits: 30 transactions per month (lifetime cap 240), 2 budgets, 2 recurring entries, basic reports only, no AI Insights. Premium pages (AI Insights, Advanced Reports, Challenges) show a personalized lock screen that tells you how many times you used that feature during the trial — to help you decide if it's worth subscribing to.
Can I get a trial more than once?
No — the auto-trial is one per user per plan. This is intentional and fair: unlimited trials would make free plans permanently premium in practice, which would be dishonest to paying users who are funding the product. If you used the trial and want to keep premium features, the Billing page shows a Subscribe option with monthly and yearly pricing.
When exactly does the trial activate?
The trial activates when you click 'Finish' on the onboarding wizard (Step 3). It happens in the background — you don't need to opt in. Your dashboard will show an indigo trial banner with the days remaining. The banner changes color as you approach expiry: indigo (5–7 days), amber (3–4 days), red (1–2 days).
